His life is almost like the Spinal Tap movie come to life with every rock cliché present and correct - drink, drugs, trashing hotel rooms (during his crazy times with The Faces), fast cars and fast (usually blonde) women- and all the crazy and sensationalist stories in the press which accompanied him over the years. He's level-headed and a wonderful family man, and one of the real genuine and enduring superstars of popular music.

I wasn't sure if I wanted to read this book or not, but I'm so glad I did! But, I have to say, Rod comes out (as alluded to many times in the chapter headings) as our hero - and he wouldn't change anything for the world.

I was given the book as a present but it was far to heavy for me to hold (arthritis) so decided to buy the kindle version along with the audio. Rod really is a living legend, and this book reveals his full rockstar lifestyle over the decades, and then some.
! Nice book, Long Live Rod! . But I'm so glad he found lasting happiness in the end.
I did find it quite hard to keep up with his private life, as he soon became bored his latest conquest and moved on to the next one! What we see from here is that he was around for years plying his trade before finally cracking the charts in the early 70s - and it all served as a valuable apprenticeship for him become the fully-formed rock star we finally got. He came from a fairly poor working class background in north London, but once he'd found his love of music he soon harboured ambitions to be a singer & guitarist.
