It sets out a month by month guide, helping you to understand what to find in the night sky at that time, locations/eclipses, etc. There’s a glossary of terms for those of us who aren’t experts.

My husband has recently taken to photographing the night sky but most of the time, apart from the Moon, he doesn't know what he's taking pictures of, so there's a lot of guesswork and checking internet sites to try and work it out, this book should be a tremendous help. 89 and is the perfect present or gift for yourself! I'd like these guys to produce a 'Dummies Almanac' for all us beginners to get our head round. )… this book is perfect for that, because it’s about the night sky for 2023.

The book is written as a novel - the months are signposted but it gives a detailed description of each constellations and how it appears on a given night in the month. A lovely way for encouraging people to look up, this is well written and a valuable guide and would also make for a lovely gift. I have apps that help me know what’s in the sky which I rarely use, even though I mean to.

The book has clearly been written by experts so while I'm confident that all the information is accurate, it can be a bit dense to follow for a rank amateur. 89. The attention to detail that has gone into this book is obvious; from the illustrations on the textured cover to the breakdown of what will be happening each month, the information is really comprehensive and well laid out. There is a lot of information at the start and end of the book for novices and accomplished stargazers alike, including: introduction, some interesting objects, major events in 2023, the moon, map of the moon, the circumpolar constellations, world map, dark sky sites, twilight diagrams, glossary and tables, and an index.
