Kingfisher, and based on Edgar Allen Poe's story The Fall of the House of Usher. Arriving at the Usher family home Alex Easton, a battle-weary soldier senses that there are strange occurances taking place in the rural mansion and reluctantly takes it upon himself to investigate.

Despite being a short novella I initially struggled to get into the story and have been dipping in and out of this book for the last couple of weeks. I do love that T. Told from the point of view of a loyal friend of the Usher family who visits their dilapidated mansion after receiving a distressing letter from Madeline Usher. There are some scenes depicting animal dissection which some people might find upsetting but these are integral to the plot and happen towards the end of the story.
