If you live in a bungalow with plenty of open space to get around maybe a knee scooter would also be a good purchase for you but for me it wouldn't be practical, which is where this thing shines. Going up forwards and coming down backwards works best.

if that makes sense? Having broke my ankle in 3 places and needing 2 big surgeries, I was non weight baring for 6 weeks, I purchased this iWalk at week 2 to help me im the days sort the kids, be independent about the house and it's been amazing!

The "foot" plate is about 125 x125mm and has a VIBRAM rubber sole plate: far more stable than the bottom of a crutch. As far as a knee scooter goes, I didn't even consider it because my 3 year old twins would have thought it was a toy. The only real area it could use some refinement is the knee pad.

Safely carrying multiple heavy bags or picking up heavy items is doable. I’m sure iWalk tells you to re-check them periodically.

I didn’t attempt it, but I really doubt I could consistently balance on 1 foot unassisted for 30 seconds. The smaller the steps the more in control you are. I use this to get in & out of a walk on shower very carefully with no problems. Things like dressing the kids, doing laundry, vacuuming floors, basic cleaning, washing dishes, and preparing meals were all easy once I had the Iwalk adjusted and had practiced using it.

Honestly, working in the medical field, this thing could sell for 10x as much & still be worth it. I watched the videos and determined that I fit within the range of people who could safely use it. I have yet to have any hip issues with it. 9.

Something simple like going upstairs and picking my son up to change him has been made possible with this thing so for me that's worth the 5 stars alone. If you have stairs like myself then this is great compared to the likes of a knee scooter.
