I don't think it's for very old children. We bought it on sale for just under 4 euros. I give it 4 stars because, although it's nice, the story seems very simple and a bit incoherent to me.

Very good quality. It has one flap for every two pages. Great quality.
We also bought the fox one at the same time for the same price, which is very similar. Axel Scheffler's illustrations, as always, are great. Got several books from acorn wood. Bound in hardcover and with cardboard pages.
Dd loves "fox's socks" the best. The vocabulary is simple and the letters are very large. It's not big but it's a good size. Only the bear comes out handing out cards to open the doors with each flap.
