So she takes him home to look after, her own pet star. The media could not be loaded. It’s small - a nice little size for the car or changing bag. As a child with a mum with chronic health conditions and a very sick grandparent and after losing her first pet, I thought this would be nice for my daughter to learn about compassion and saying goodbye to people/pets.

Firstly the story is great, a nice length, not too long and the illustrations are lovely to match. When a young girl finds a star under a tree, she knows it does not belong there.

It is a beautiful book about being kind and when the time comes, letting something go. The girl knows that the star will eventually have to return to the sky, but when it does it doesn’t disappear from her life as it shines down from the sky watching over her.
