(Don't worry about the red tape in the picture - that's just to remind me not to turn off the freezer! The door is within 3 meters of the hub and I have other devices further away that work fine. They come with a sticky pad but, as you can see, I thought it better to use a small screw to attach them, as I can't see the adhesive surviving many attempts to move the device in order to change batteries or reposition them.

I guess you could use it with the stock firmware but I never even let it boot into that, so have no idea how good it is. Sonoff got in touch and sent a new one out which worked perfectly.

I bought this sensor for use in my loft to keep track of temperature as I have some electrical equipment there. I'm only giving this Smart device 4 stars for the reasons below. I have not had any issues with signal or range, the button is upstairs and the Zigbee hub is downstairs. I tested these with SmartThings and Home Assistant.

I've successfully set this up on open for Alexa ask me if I"m leaving the house to take my keys and lock the front door, and me and any guests if the front door has been locked, to check and lock it if this hasn't been done when closed. In order to get the device working/paired, I turned on the pairing on the Zigbee hub, then poked a paperclip end into the reset button of this Sonoff button for about 5 seconds, and then the device just paired with the Zigbee hub then after a few moments the button appeared as a device in Home-Assistant too.
