About this deal
Tasting Notes
46% ABV COUNTRY: Scotland Palate: A chocolate-dusted cappuccino, warm vanilla-custard brioche and maple-syrup- poached tangy fruits appear, along with a roaring peat fire. Islay single malt from a south coast distillery brings flavours of dried fruits and dark chocolate, while a distillery on the north coast contributes notes of lemon oil and Arbroath smokie. Bottled at a higher strength of 54. Full on in terms of flavour and strength, just how we like it. Thank you and cheers! REGION: Islay

At least, it didn't leave me as breathless as other whiskey does. A very nice sipping whisky with a hint of smoke.

However, even though I am more of a wine or cocktail person, I decided to at least sample this one, just out of curiosity. 5% ABV (alcohol by volume) this Isle of Islay is 46% ABV but despite it being a bit stronger it is not at all harsh. He normally mixes with Diet Coke, but drank this one with ice and/or water. Described as aged in sherry & bourbon casks to give this distinct smokiness.
I bit stronger than normal UK spirits which are often 37. When I tasted it I thought it had an almost medicinal flavor, with an herbal spice aftertaste. No caramel colouring and blended to provide a consistent flavour.
I found it to be very smooth, more so than our normal whiskey choices. My husband thought it had a nice strength, and tasted best chilled and smooth. Very nice gift for whiskey drinkers, and is sure to impress. I'm not a whiskey drinker, but my husband and father-in-law are.
