Thanks for making vocab cool! I was able to signpost colleagues to this ORRsome new book. What the Vocabulary Ninja does in this book is suggest that spending from as little as 5 to 15 minutes daily could make a difference to the children in your class. Teaching children who do not necessarily experience those ‘tier 2’ words outside of school they absolutely thrive learning new words and are so much more confident using their new vocabulary in their independent writing.

In this book, the ninja goes even further, outlining the pedagogy behind vocabulary teaching, as well as giving us loads of resources and lesson ideas that are so simple they can be put into place immediately, yet so effective they’ll have long term impact. The practical approaches are all linked to well-founded research and the list of inspiration tweeters on edutwitter has led me to further reading and research. This is not just a book about finding synonyms for words but developing a love of language, deepening their use and enabling a greater understanding of how we can use them to unlock more of our world.

What a fabulous book! I was lucky enough to get mine early and my own little Ninja! I love the way the book is organised part 1 is the theory and background, words are so powerful and the Vocabulary Ninja shares display ideas for your classroom .
