I found this to be a wholesome read even with the harsher storylines, the relationships between the characters are relatable and even the ones you are not supposed to like, I found myself still rooting for them. It is so well written and laid out. I was a little worried going into this as I wouldn't tend to read a lot of fantasty/magical books but HMRC flowed from chapter to chapter. A lot of care has gone into those scenes and it shows and comes across so naturally.

Moreover, I loved Diaspora, an alternative coven for black, minority ethnic and LGBTQ+ witches. They are a generation who have lived through a war and now fear they are on the cusp of another; this set an ominously tense tone.

I thoroughly enjoyed our buddy read of Her Majesty's Royal Coven; there was so much to discuss! I was becoming more and more anxious that there just weren't enough pages left towards the end and we all really struggled to only read the set chapters for the day.

Her Majesty’s Royal Coven follows a group of witches who have been friends since childhood: Niamh, Leonie, Elle & Helena, now based in London, Manchester & Hebden Bridge, & ranging from wife & mother, to the High Priestess of HMRC, a government department dedicated to the concealment of magic from ‘mundanes’. The friendships, the sisterhood, the magic, all of the representation, the diversity, the magical world building, the pop culture references, the action!
