It was baked into the chassis design in anticipation of a feature that never materialized. Bought this to replace my very cheap Zalman membrane keyboard and the difference is like going from night to day, it is very heavy and solid so it doesn't slide around when you are using it, same for the palm-rest which is well padded with high density memory foam and feels very comfortable. If RGB is your thing then the software when I played around with it should cater for all your needs, it's not mine and I have all my RGB set to blue. I bought this on sale for £109 and a few days later they were selling for £74.
