This one is massive compared to the much smaller one. That i've had for a couple of years now. If you travel extensively and rely on a smartphone and tablet, an external battery power bank is essential to take with you. Without one, it is not always convenient to find an electrical outlet on the road, especially if you are hours away from your next stop.

I left work with 32% battery, plugged the charger in, walked 4mins to the underground station - battery gone up to 46%. The differences I see are 1) it's equipped with PowerIQ, which supposedly provide faster charging, and 2) it has a 3-level power indicator, so it's easy to see how much juice it has left/charged. A LED flash light could be a nice feature but no a deal killer for me.

I have used over 25 different portable chargers over the years and this is as good or better then the ones I have tried, including charge speed (for non quick charge it is uniquely fast, less then a percent a minute), its durability, and battery life. Attached is a photo showing the size of the PowerCore 5000 to some of the earlier models. very click too! Also big material downgrade, the old one was metal cased this one is just plastic.
