Through "Unwanted," we are prompted by Stringer to acknowledge and listen to our sexual weaknesses because it will help us find freedom. I first want to say wow this book is absolute life changing and so encouraging for everyone who reads it. ” Sadly feeling and thinking that you are unwanted has become a normalcy in this world for so many people all over the world. Somewhere in the book, he said, "although some sexual behavior is abhorrent and should be discontinued, addressing sexual struggles through the lens of abhorrent behavior intensifies shame, and shames drives us deeper into the very behavior we wish to stop.

I love how the author is incorporating the bible into this book of self-healing and growth. Unwanted includes reflection questions at the end of every chapter, which gives you a palpable sense of action to help you progress through the book. I was pleased at the author's insights on the Christian concept of purity. His emphasis on personal freedom in the face of addiction makes the reader feel as though they should make the change to free themselves for themselves.

The book's blend of clinical insights with spiritual perspectives is a testament to its relevance, making it an indispensable tool for Christian counselors, therapists, and clergy who understand the complexities of their work. Thank you Jay for writing this outstanding book! Definitely not men that are dealing with porn addiction.

The practical tips and reflections at the end of each chapter in "Unwanted" empower those engaged in ministry. The book is comprised of 3 parts that totals 19 chapters. The full title is, “Unwanted: How Sexual Brokenness Reveals Our Way to Healing. The tension between wanting to be free from the desire for unwanted sexual behaviors while also finding comfort in the misery it causes is something we can all relate to on some level.

The inclusion of reflection questions facilitated a deeper examination of the underlying causes. This is a valuable resource! The author's unique perspective as a licensed mental health counselor and minister is clear in his examination of root causes.

Amy Heidecker

The author raises many interesting points throughout the book, the thought of using your fantasies as a lens through which to view what you deeply desire is very interesting. The authors premise is that if we can find the root of an addiction, we can see what Scripture has to say about it (complemented and confirmed by science and research studies), and receive TRUE inner healing and wholeness in Jesus Christ and by what He accomplished on the cross for all of us 2,000 years ago.
