The non linear structure means that we piece fragments slowly to start but the end is a pacy and thrilling race that unveils some jawdropping surprises. I dare you to read it and not be left with a sad feeling, it was just so magical!

Flash forward again and it’s the 50th anniversary of the book. But I'm also feeling better now I've finished The Skeleton Key, I just can't think I will find another book like it! Not surprisingly readers became followers and some of them became obsessed with finding the clues and bones.

Literary Pet Peeve Checklist:Green Eyes (only 2% of the real world, yet it seems like 90% of all fictional females): YES That would be Rose. The book created a fortune for Frank and Cora Churcher and added to their vanity and shallowness , however for their daughter Nell, it brought much more menacing and sinister attention, as the infamous Bone Collectors failed to separate fantasy and reality, linking Nell with the Elinore of the story.

It’s based on a grisly fairy tale/folk song about a woman, Elinore, dismembered by her jealous husband, her bones scattered around Britain. The story takes us in the past as well as the recent present, it does not stop, it's relentless in its shocks and twists and turns!
