This was bought for my 82 year old mum. We tried those pencil grips and my child couldn’t do those.

Moira

Refills are available in black and blue so the ink colour can be changed according to your needs. That’s huge for her! Anyways, she finished her handwriting worksheets without changing her grasp.

Frank

They come with a refill which can be changed by unscrewing narrow end of pen. She has recovered from a stroke last year but still sometimes fumbles with her fine motor skills.

M. Nicolas

First try wasn’t perfect, but much better (see photo). I bought her both the right and left hand pens since she uses both.

DeWitt

Side note: This pen may be a good choice for those with arthritis or carpal tunnel. The refills are sold in multi packs which cost less than pen, making it good value in the long run. I used this pen and I noticed I’m not pushing down as hard and my hand wasn’t tiring as usual. Too bulky or awkward.

MRW

The outer colour of pen has no bearing on the ink. I have both and always have hand pain. The Stabilo pen was purchased to help my child with her pencil grasp. She has reported that the fatter design of the main body of the pen with strategically placed grooves for the middle finger and thumb makes gripping easier and gives more fluid control of writing.
