I'll explain it with an example; the scene “turn on the lights when I enter the kitchen and the brightness is lower than 20lux” is possible with a motion sensor combined with a brightness sensor (in my case, before buying this, I used a combined one, but often two separate sensors are needed). In short, it's not worth buying at this time, specially not at this price tag. It's a feature that I hope I'll never have to use, but one that offers added peace of mind, especially in a home with children or the elderly. When you're at your desk, you can create an automation that turns on the desk lamp.

In conclusion, the Aqara FP2 Presence Sensor is an excellent choice for those looking for a reliable device that elevates home security to new levels. Note: I only used their app for setup, it seem a tad obscure when using the app so not to happy with that. It's pretty accurate too and responsive. This product is amazing in theory, but it's implementation is terrible.

Although it requires a constant connection to the power supply, this eliminates the hassle of changing batteries and ensures that the sensor is always active. Also integrated into my Jeedom home automation solution, it goes up like several motion detectors with luminosity. In this way, false detections will be avoided. Getting setup was a bit of a fiddle, I needed to install the Aqara app, then add it to Apple home (apparently not needed if you are an android user), I then setup the sensor using the Aqara app.

It is then advisable to activate AI learning with the space clear so that the device correctly identifies what it should consider as presence. A zone should be able to be at least 2 boxes in size.

As neat as it is, I just don't know if it's worth the $83 dollar price tag. Other, cheaper sensors, due to the type of waves they use, detect presence in adjoining rooms.
