Apart from being a very good compressor, if you have a Ford Kuga MK2 (2012-2019) then there is a perfect recess in the boot to stow it in that's almost made to measure for it. Long power cable reaches all four wheels easily and is quick to wind back in.

The torch is therefore shining in the wrong direction as I’d need to have the tyre on my right side (in a backhand approach) which doesn’t make it as easy to screw on the inflation tube. What very few of them do is have the safe-guard feature of being able to set the desired pressure and the machine turns off when it reaches it. As you’re likely to be running your engine while operating the inflator it’s not much worse than the sound of your car. The cigarette lighter plug being my biggest worry as customers had said it didn’t fit well.

It had a habit of going ping when I’m commuting to work early in the morning, never the best time. Just arrived yesterday was dreading the issues other customers had mentioned. Occasionally I found that the inflator would go up to the desired target, and then drop down by half a point.

I bought a converter to go with it as prefer the old lever mechanism, but I found I don't actually need it after all. So far so good!

Selected the Bar option and the value ( in this case 2. My car had recently developed a slow puncture, pinging up the warning light every 3-4 weeks and prompting a trip to the local supermarket or filling station for a top-up.

My photos show before and after shots of readings from both the Ring and the Rolson. The rest I found to be a doddle all tyres up to pressure in jig time. Typically, I’ve found the initial reading prior to inflation to be identical, but 0. What I tend to do is set it for half a point (PSI or Bar) higher to compensate, and allow for any loss in pressure when removing the inflation tube.

I have read reviews that say the plug doesn't stay in - this has now been changed by the looks of it and mine fitted perfectly and securely with its two clips on the side rather than one clip that seemed to be the problem, so don't be put off. 05 Bar higher on the Ring after inflation. A lot of thought has gone into this unit and I think it is the Rolls Royce of inflators. In summary though, I think the Ring RTC1000 is a very good digital tyre inflator and does everything I’d ask of it.
