In this house, right now, are four smart TVs with their own way of playing streaming content, an Amazon Fire 4K stick, a NOW TV stick and a 3rd generation Apple TV. Samsung and LG both have very good systems, but nothing as slick or quick as Apple’s. iCloud, Amazon Prime, Netflix, Spotify and YouTube accounts are NOT included.

I’ll finish how I started. You can even swipe through the playback timeline, with the same inertial scrolling as the iPhone and a little preview window.

The last thing I’ll add is the integration with your other Apple devices. • Siri Remote can be confusing for new users and the elderly. The only negative I’d put forward is that there’s no mute button. Plus there are regularly sales and discounts on 4K HDR films, bringing that price down even further.

It’s better to match dynamic range than to automatically apply a fixed dynamic range. Why? Amazingly I've been an Apple TV user for almost 13 years. It takes just 8 seconds from clicking the Siri Remote, to my Sony TV turning on and switching to the correct Input, to the Apple TV displaying its Home screen.

Both these devices have advanced high audio resolution, and high picture definition, and high dynamic range capabilities. If you don't have a 4K TV and have no plans to buy one, save your money and get the Apple TV HD (released October 2015) instead. All it does is switch between iTunes/App Store accounts. If you have a 4K TV, then get the Apple TV 4K.
