Product Details
This 19th century fine art print, by Charles Henry Seaforth, shows a royal navy warship off Spithead. He won the Tollman Award for Visual Art in 2014, the Michaelis Prize in 2013, and was shortlisted for the inaugural Norval Sovereign African Art Prize. Crafted with navy-grade materials, it's a timeless piece of maritime craftsmanship. Excellent quality and condition large scale marine oil typical of the artists work and independently authenticated to the artist. Barlinnie is one of the most notorious prisons in the world and for a hundred years it has held Glasgow's toughest and most violent men, swept up from the city streets. It has sparked rooftop protests and cell block riots, and been home to godfathers of crime like Arthur Thompson Snr and Walter Norval. Paul Ferris, T C Campbell and gangleaders galore have languished behind its grim walls and, a hundred years on, Barlinnie still makes headlines.
