- There are 4 style options each for sleeves and necklines, including a flared sleeve, a capped sleeve, a sweetheart neckline or a boatneck; and 5 skirt options, including a fitted pencil-style skirt, a zhuzhy circle skirt, and an A-Line, with or without pleats.
- Basic techniques needed are covered at the start of the book - including seam allowances, notches, cutting out, pinning, machine sewing and finishing.
- The basic sewing kit you need is covered, as well as fabric advice and advice on lining.
- The 5 patterns can be put together to create 80 different dress styles; adapted to make 4 different skirts or 4 tops; or the pattern for the straight skirt can be joined to any of the bodice patterns to make a straight dress.
- Nothing is left unexplained; and stunning images of the finished dresses, on a mannequin and on a model, are interspersed throughout the book to inspire your own finished pieces.
- You can even create a skirt as a separate, simply by adding a waistband or facing.
- You can also choose to add a sweet, classic Peter Pan collar, or in-seam pockets, to your garment.

I am most blessed to live close enough to the teacher’s classes venue, since I was able to attend the first 7 week course since the book came in print. I highly recommend this book! The pink dress was, all-my-own interpretation using the book, shrinking the pattern and calculating everything - to create a perfect dress for my 6 year old! As a self taught sewist, I found this book to be very helpful and I personally think it will be a great book to have to refer back to as an when needed.

I would recommend this book for anyone who is not sure , but it or not. However, in between each lesson, the book helped me get a thorough understanding of each step, I was able to jump ahead at times and really get it! I purchased this book even though i know how to sew ,i have learnt loads and since having it i have made 3 dresses and a top its so helpfull and easy to use.
