Here's how to do it the right way. It also makes a whistling noise when you swing it which I think is a design flaw but my son thinks it is awesome.

The blade is shorter than the extendable green and blue sabers we have from Disneyland but I actually preferred it that way in this instance because my kid is so tiny. The design is very nice and lightweight.

The blades also have some wavy designs on them so it somewhat captures the unstable look of the lightsaber from the movie. This is just due to physics and the mechanics of the toy. This is a sturdy product and excellent complement for the Kylo Ren costume! What you need to do is hold it near the bottom so it becomes a little top heavy and it will come out much easier when you flick your wrist.

Even if you use a lot of force, no pun intended, the blade won't come out. It’s very cool and at first I didn’t like but push the blade a bit hard The instruction show a picture of holding the lightsaber normally and flicking your wrist. Some people have said that it's a little hard for the blades to come out.
