About this deal

Published on 9 November 2023 by HODDER & STOUGHTON in the United Kingdom.

Collected is an independent bookshop - a great place to browse and buy brilliant books as well as enjoy coffee and conversation. Interested in audiobooks too? The good news is you can buy them on The Feminist Bookshop audiobooks page! But the long hours and festive window displays are the least of Roach's worries this year. If you thought bookshops were a safe haven at Christmas - think again.

Reviews

Dani

My dark twisted heart loves this book. The characters, Roach and Laura, are both complex and flawed, but you can't help but love them, I definitely didn't like them but as characters they are sublime. The end. ) make this book perfect for true crime fans, especially those who might have a slight obsession with it like Roach.

Emma's Biblio Treasures

Death of a Bookseller is a fantastic debut novel that I highly recommend. And so the obsession begins.

Roach is brooding & loves true crime and serial killers, while Laura is wholesome & friendly or is she? Roach innocently tries to connect with Laura, feeling they share the same interest/passion, but Laura just dismisses Roach as if she is an annoying bug. I love a book with a complicated and unreliable protagonist, and this has two of them. Roach, on the other hand, I adored.

Paradise Library

Yet overall, there is no clear villain and no winner, just two very troubled young women. Slater writes with experience and humour, mocking everything from tote bags to true crime lovers and her tongue in cheek style is excellent.

I found this fast-paced, captivating and had me enthralled. So, if like me you enjoy uncomfortable, creepy novels about dark things, then this is a book you have to read.

The description of the London accommodation is extremely provocative and may bring back strong memories of your own flat sharing – pet snail aside! What starts as indifference leads to obsession as Roach starts to follow Laura, break into her flat, change her appearance and play tricks on her to freak her out.
