About this deal

With her life in disarray, she knows just one thing for sure: her mum isn't gone for ever. So when a new star is spotted acting strangely in the sky, Aniyah is sure it's her mum, and she embarks on the adventure of a lifetime to make sure everyone else knows too - an adventure that involves breaking into the Royal Observatory of London, a mischievous scurry of squirrels and the biggest star in Hollywood. And it's only gotten worse since I played a prank on the old man who lives in the park. Told through the innocent voice of a child, this is a story that explores the subtle faces and endless impacts of domestic violence, and celebrates the power of hope and resilience, from Onjali Rauf, the award-winning author of The Boy at the Back of the Class. I want to find the brand new ones - the ones that have only just been born and are searching for the people they've left behind.

I think it is so important to depict these sort of topics in children's books; they are the ones often affected by it and so it is important that they have outlets to read about it in which they understand it is not normal and not okay - but that emphasis the hope and how their lives can change. It's a very emotive read for sure and one that made me cry at the end when Aniyah finally accepts and acknowledges what happened to her mother. I just honestly love her writing and the way she depicts her characters; they feel real and they also show the goodness in people. The characters were well thought about, and the story is inspirational.

My 9 year old daughter adored this book. This book in particular really pulls at the heart strings and honestly just makes you gutted for the children. My daughter thinks that anyone who does not buy this book is crazy! She didn't want it to end as it was too good, and too exciting.

It was full of wonder, friendship and resilience. Absolutely heartbreaking but an amazing read and one I will definitely recommend.

TW: domestic abuse, child abuse, murder (not depicted in writing but referred to)There is something about Onjali's writing that is just amazing; she focuses on really important topics and adapts them to suit a children's book without minimising their focus or impact. I think Onjali balances really well depicting domestic abuse without going into too much detail. !

Everyone should read this. ). It's honestly so painful to read but I think it was done in a really sensitive way; the adults around her were supportive as were the other children (even Sophie who I thought was a bit of a devil throughout! She says it is a heart warming story, with an excellent plot and a shocking twist at the end.

She could not put it down. It was all about bravery and determination.
