About this deal

“Jewell’s novel explores the space between going missing and being lost….

Where is Lily’s missing husband? Soon, she receives even worse news: according to the police, the man she married never even existed. Against her better judgment, she invites him inside. Meanwhile, in a suburb of London, newlywed Lily Monrose grows anxious when her husband fails to return home from work one night. '***** 'This is my favourite novel by this author so far. Twenty-three years earlier, Gray and Kirsty Ross are teenagers on a summer holiday with their parents.

Reviews

Dame DJ

The loss of memory and flashbacks to a party that escalates are reminiscent of the Netflix series “The Sinner. ” The (love) story about the somewhat eccentric artist Alice with her dogs was also super nice to read. Another really good thriller by Lisa Jewell!

How wonderful it is to have found an author whose books simply always deliver solidly and reliably provide exciting reading hours:
On a stormy spring day, Alice finds a man on the beach in front of her cottage in Ridinghouse Bay. Alice, the main character, was lovely too, someone that I really enjoyed reading about and felt connected too. The story unfolds layer by shift, and everything seems to be connected to the events in the summer of 1993, when the Ross siblings and their parents spent their vacation in Ridinghouse Bay. This book kept me up all night, I could not put it down.

Just a lovely, easy to read, well rounded and well written book. It is the nearest thing to seeing it on film and really triggers one's imagination.

I loved and cared about the them and was just hoping the whole time for a happy ending. I would give 10/10 as a gift. Lisa Jewell manages to write in short chapters from changing perspectives in such an exciting way that I read through the book in one go.

The Booked Cook

I love Lisa Jewell and I loved this book. For a thriller I didnt always find it too 'thrilling', with the exception of the 1993 flashbacks, but I still loved the book. I was always interested in the mystery and wanted answers! At the same time, newlywed Lily is missing her husband in London, and she is certain that something must have happened to him.
