But the new valve has started to make a knocking noise when going to closed position, closer inspection shows that the teeth on the gears are worn and in some cases broken. Excellent genuine Honeywell valve unit default shut which is important to note. My heating system and wires are a mess (inherited with the house), but it was still a fairly simple swap.

Don’t forget to switch off power and pull the fuse before you start. Open F&E top up bingo all fixed. This was my fault hoping the valve was ok.
