Was able to fit 4 suitcases and other items. I don't have rails on the roof of my car. I own a Kia Sportage without a roof rack and bought this for taking a car full of people camping.

I just put the non slip "mat" on the rooftop, and then placed the Whistler on top, LITERALLY STUFFED the Whistler full of clothes and shoes and then fastened the 2 straps that it came with and never had to use anything else. We never had any rips and it was very stable.

After packing 3 sleeping bags, 4 folding chairs, two backpacks, two air mattresses, and a few small odds and ends, I zipped it shut and strapped it down. I don't know if it leaks because in four days we never experienced any rain. Drove about 700 / 12 hours miles in one day didn’t move even though I was nervous that it would fly off into someone’s front window -_-. Since the straps are tightened against the weather stripping of the car, you will experience some wind noice, and if it does rain you will experience some water coming in thru the straps.

I looked on amazon to find the cheapest way to make space and to pray the items got there and didn’t fly off. Used for a short camping trip this week. It straps inside the car I have a fix that worked for with wet weather.

The Whistler car roof bag was awesome and withstood our drive from Houston, Tx to Wilmington, NC. I didn't experience any water coming in.

However, if you stop moving while it is raining, rain will travel along the straps inside the vehicle. Some times more than others, but maybe it's because at times I was driving between 75-85 mph. But I don't see how it could leak because there are flaps to pull down over the zipper and it's made with a really good quality material. Once I removed the bag it did have a small tear.
