The House in the Pines is certainly worth seeking out if you enjoy an uneasy, chilling tale. This book has very mixed reviews and I was fearful I was going to dislike it too. Believing Frank, her ex-boyfriend, has somehow caused both deaths, Maya must tread very carefully — she knows Frank is dangerous and controlling.

I purchased this used from Amazon . Seven years earlier the same thing happened to Maya's best friend Aubrey. This was one of the best thrillers I’ve read in years.

I was on the edge of my seat and checking for boogeymen under my bed. After a couple of paragraphs it soon became clear though.
