It’s such a great machine for novices and beginners like me, and anyone could easily use it. 5mm jack for headphones, which are supplied and comfortable to wear, and adjustable volume is welcoming. tells me it's about 4 inches down so I dig, low and behold, a £2 coin.

Unfortunately I didn't get the detector when it was priced at £100. The built in pin pointer was very intuitive and helped to find the precise location of the metal. I have found the operation of it intuitive and self explanatory. It was easy to setup with simple instructions.

Height adjustable, I'm 5'9 and I only have it on the 2nd hole, theres another 4-5 more which i guess someone over 6ft would have no issues. The find of the day was a complete surprise to me.

The DR OTEK MT-XR is powered by a 9v battery, which would give you a few hours detectoring, but Ibought a lead to eliminate battery so I could attach a power bank which seems to work very well, to giveme more detectoring time. Well done Dr Otek. Seriously if you are interested in taking metal detecting up as a hobby, but don't want to pay the brand name prices to start with, then I highly recommend the MT-XR. ( see pictures )The display on the MT-XR is very informative, and can be set using the mode function to eliminate certainmetals and even has a depth readout to let you know how deep is the hit approx.
