I can’t quite put my finger on what, but it’s as if she has found the most perfect, eloquent words to use. The startling artwork was what first drew me to this book.

Stars and Vellum

There’s already a small pantheon of Gods mentioned in this book. Kissen is embittered about the Gods, because of something that happened in her youth and is now hired as a Godkiller. I don’t want to give too much plot away here.

I think this is one of the best books I’ve read in a while. I can’t wait for book 2 to come out so I can find out what happens next and spend some more time with characters that I’ve grown really fond of.

Indeed, I think the Gods that she has created are my favourite part of the book. The mission the characters find themselves on was very intriguing and I enjoyed going on the journey with the characters, watching everything slowly unfold. Inara is a young girl, in need of Kissen’s help. With a world as large as this, the author has a unique way of describing just enough that you can picture and get lost in the world, but not too much that it becomes monotonous and overkill.

Kissen is such a strong and awesome character, it's so difficult not to like her. The relationship between the group was really heartwarming and it was great to see how much it had changed by the end. I was quickly drawn into the story and into the character’s world.
