I had this book in the 70’s and remember my kids and niece and husband going through the photos choosing recipes a favourite was turkey risotto which I’ve made every year since. It was my first cookbook of many more to come & I still cook my favs from it today. Nowadays the spices I use are much stronger but it has to look exactly the same.

! Many cookery books had no illustrations & those that did like ‘The Silver Spoon’ were wildly expensive probably due to the cost back then of producing photographs without modern methodsIt brings back happy times for me & my kids now in their 20’s also use it occasionally for a recipe or twoPlus, of course I believe it was Mary Berry’s first (or one of her first) published cookbooks, so what’s not to love? My aunt bought this book when it first came out in 1970 & saved it for me as a gift for when I went off to uni in the early 80’s. It was a Godsend at uni at a time before the internet when students had no money to spend on luxuries like a cookery book (as it was also a time pre-cheap books)It really is everything a cookbook should be - clear concise with step by step instructions & every recipe was illustrated which was quite unusual back then.

😊 The condition is much better than I expected better than the one I had.
