It has a dial for settings and I've noticed between the 3 and 4 seems to produce the best non burnt hello kitty pic-but that is on ours and to our tastes. I really like it .

Bought this for my 10 year old who is on a Sanrio kick. Exactly like the picture and the toast comes out as pictured too. Works well and toasts perfect

Overall, It's a good purchase. Looks cute, works well, seems to be holding up but we are only a month in. If you are looking to decorate your kitchen in SanRio this is a solid option.
