About this deal

What may be less known is that he continued to write about Middle-earth in the decades that followed, right up until the years before his death in 1973. From sweeping themes as complex and profound as the metaphysics of Elvish immortality and reincarnation, and the Powers of the Valar, to the more earth-bound subjects of the lands and beasts of Númenor, the geography of the Rivers and Beacon-hills of Gondor, and even who had beards! Tolkien published The Hobbit in 1937 and The Lord of the Rings in 1954–5. 71 Balham High Road, Balham, SW12 9AP This new collection, which has been edited by Carl F. | Postwar period, 1945 to c 2000 Published 02/09/2021 by HarperCollins Publishers (HarperCollins Publishers Ltd) in the United Kingdom Hardback | 464 pages, Index; Index Tolkien’s final writings on Middle-earth, covering a wide range of subjects and perfect for those who have read and enjoyed The Silmarillion, The Lord of the Rings, Unfinished Tales, and The History of Middle-earth, and want to learn more about Tolkien’s magnificent world. Reviews

Flor Rodriguez

A nice lecture for committed readers. The first part of the appendices gives a concise guide on what Tolkien meant when he wrote that "the Lord of the Rings is of course a fundamentally religious and Catholic work". This is not made for casual reading and is heavily catered to those who enjoyed The Silmarillion, Unfinished Tales, and The History of Middle-earth.

1 colour fold out pic included at the front of the book (pic attached). It’s amazing if this is your kind of thing. Moving on, as with most of the reviews for this book. This is a factual book.

This is not a book that you can sit cozily by the fire with a nice drink and read in awe. These end pages have images / writing / formulas on them in Tolkiens writing. The seller had this book packaged insanely safe.

So I’m still reading this book as it’s so in-depth and trying to follow along with a creative process. Four layers of tape, foam, tape, book box, tape, shrink wrap and then I found a book. The hardcover front and back on the inner hinge cracking / splitting the end pages. And why elves don’t have beards.

There are no narratives or tales set in here, but rather, a compilation of notes, of which, everything is set out by the editor Carl F. And the precise mathematical equations in how they age. As of today, I now have both the Hardcover and Deluxe Slipcase Edition of this book, and comparing the quality of both shows that they are both of great quality. The writing style is more written in a thesis style, although is VERY informative.
