About this deal

CSI Ally Dymond is on compassionate leave, but when approached by the new DI, recently arrived from London and eager to have Ally's keen eye and local knowledge on the case, she finds herself being drawn back in. Cassandra rose blanche honours the white rose, symbol of love and loyalty. Estelle's laceration is just the tip of the iceberg, leading to the discovery of the worst wounds she's ever endured. Then the heart mixes the rosebud with the lily of the valley to celebrate romanticism and femininity, to end on sensual and velvety notes of amber and peach. 'Shot through with wit and peopled by characters you care about' Gill Perdue, author of If I Tell 'T. Kelly Ann Mealia

The second half of this novel is explosive. She decides to try and get support on her self harming and her ‘irrational thoughts’ and finds a card in the house advertising Cassandra Claire who is a hypnotherapist, she signs right up. The books begins with a slow build up, learning about Annabelle and her life in the past and her present. With her husband despairing of her behaviour and her own doubt and worry about her mental state she tries to self heal .

The power that Cassandra or any hypnotist has to affect someone’s life is so huge, it is a real relationship of trust which may not always work out for the best. I will definitely follow Sophia Spiers’ work in the future – she’s one to watch! * Please research any trigger warnings before reading * I cannot say to much about this book without giving spoilers and I really want you to enjoy this as much as I did.

Through the therapy Annabelle begins to uncover her past and many of the reasons why she feels the way she does but along the way she discovers that her current situation is far more dangerous. On the surface Annabelle has the best life, rich husband, beautiful son and home but she has never got over the troubles from her past. Her world a claustrophobic state of terror that is suffocating and you can feel her increasing desperation to uncover the truth of the buried trauma that plagues her subconscious.

Disturbing, twisty and highly addictive, this was definitely not a book for the faint hearted and I loved every bloody soaked, stomach churning word of it. Her different relationships with both Matt and Cassandra was equally enthralling . It is something I am intrigued and frightened by, the ability to access the subconscious. I thought that Cassandra was going to be a beacon of light, but as things progressed their relationship became more dark and twisted.

She has a beautiful home successful husband and is mother to her treasured son. I had a strong dislike of Matt from the start and the more I read the more I felt like he was gaslighting Annabelle who has had a troubled past and doesn’t need a controlling partner in her life. The repressed memories of her childhood are laid bare and she finds herself struggling with panic and fear.
