Even the drives running almost 24/7 have lasted for a minimum of 8 years. So, as long as Seagate keep making them, I'll keep buying them. Yes, it's a no-thrills basic hard drive, and it's not going to beat an SSD for read/write speeds. Having had a PC suddenly die I know first hand the importance of backups.

The white light stays on throughout the entire connection and when you eject it’s off. But for those of us running Home Theatre PC's, the case is fairly easy to get into to harvest the naked drive.
