If you have Windows 10, right click on your start button (windows icon in bottom left corner of screen), click on device manager, then on Network Adapters and then you should see the adapter there (ASIX AX88179 USB 3. I bought it to use with my Nintendo Switch (docked, TV mode).

I have been using this on the samsung galaxy tab s7 plus 2020 tablet. The adapter arrived well packaged in a cardboard box and also came with a driver CD. com there USB3-E1000 ethernet adaptor uses the same AX88179 chipset as Amazon, run the installer package that will install a app called "ASIX_USB_Device_App" open this app and click "Activate" you'll need to authorize kernel extension installed via "Security & Privacy" in System Preferences click "Allow".

Pros:- Excellent value- Works perfectly with Windows 10 (no drivers required)- LInk state/connection indicator LEDs- Feels well made with the Ethernet port enclosed in a metal chasis- Excellent performance (consistently more than 100MB/s on large file transfers across a gigabit LAN)- Works perfectly with Acronis True Image recovery USB/CD (outside of Windows environment)Cons:- Honestly, none The best thing for me is that the Acronis True Image USB recovery disk also recognises this USB Ethernet adapter and allows me to backup to/restore from to my NAS perfectly. I can't say that I've ever heard of 'ASIX' as a chipset manufacturer but I've been really impressed with the performance of this one so far.

This adapter does work on latest version of macOS (both Apple Silicon and Intel) you just need to install AX88179 kernel extension driverThe one i used was on plugable. 0 to Gigabit Ethernet Adapter). 13 and it's a nice detail that includes the CD with drivers - in case we're in one of those vicious circles of “I don't have Internet because I don't have an Ethernet card and I don't have an Ethernet card because I need to connect to the Internet to download the drivers”.

There is no need to install drivers or in my case it wasn't, I just connected it and it started working. The only reason I'm not giving a full 5 stars is because if you don't have a CD drive, then there are no clear instructions on how to install (or telling you how to check to see if your computer has automatic installation of the drivers). In the case of the Raspberry Pi Zero W, I have had to use an OTG to micro USB adapter and connect this Ethernet adapter there to work without any problems. The adapter does not seem to get warm, even after heavy usage.

One thing for Switch owners to consider is that the cable is a little short, so closing the Switch's rear compartment can be tricky. I was looking for a USB 2.

It features a low-power ASIX AX88772B Fast Ethernet (100 Mbps) chispet that is currently detected by any modern GNU/Linux-based and Windows 10 distribution, plus generous additional driver support by the manufacturer, from macOS to older versions of Windows, including Windows XP CE and other systems integrated. For Windows 10 I didn't actually need the CD and Windows detected and installed the USB 3. It's very small I thought it was bigger as it looks like that in the photos but it really is slim and small. Some users also said their adapters died unexpectedly after a short amount of time.
