What I do is simply lightly tap them, maybe clean them off with my shirt, or fingers even, just don't touch that button while you do it. It's very nice, I like it, I received on time, it's exactly what I expected The space between the contacts is small but can light most cigarettes just fine. It makes a soft buzzing noise when activated, and you can feel a little bit of heat near the tip, but people with sensitive hearing might not like it if they're susceptible to high pitched noises not everyone can hear.

Go green, less hastle than fuel when you can just use your phone charger. I have not tried this with cigars so I can not comment on how well it preforms there. So if you are looking for a cool lighter that will surprise people this is not a bad option.

Curious One

If I drop this in a small puddle can I pick it up wipe it off and use as normal? This is an electric lighter that is charged by a USB cable. No chemical fuel taste or sulfur taste.
