This is a review for the Olympus binoculars 8-16x40 S. Feels very comfortable in hands, stable, and the field of view is excellent. • Instruction manual.

For these reasons I will deduct a star, although I feel I may be being a little nit picky with these, the quality does shine through with the binoculars and don’t think they would ever let you down. The lever is easily reached so I can solely concentrate on just looking through the binoculars whilst adjusting the zoom.

The '8-16x40 S' is the most expensive model out of the Olympus 'S' range with an RRP of £139. The lever for magnification from 8-16 is easy to use when out and about. Image is sharp from edge to center and nice and bright image even on a dim cloudy day. Not with the Olympus 8-16x40!

There is just the vaguest of hint chromatic aberration at times, but you would hardly notice. The objective lens is 40mm diameter, magnification 8x-16x variable, minimum focus 10m and eye relief 10-12mm.

• Protective lens covers (pre-attached). I had a pair of old binoculars that had been sat in the cupboard years, which I started taking out with me on my long weekly walks which I started during lockdown, to observe wildlife/birds. Focusing on this binocular model is done by looking through just your right-eye whilst adjusting the central focusing wheel, then looking through just your left whilst twisting the dioptre on the left eye-piece (just make sure you are looking at the same object when adjusting for both eyes).

4°. The build quality is excellent, looks outstanding, has a nice size, a good weight, feels solid, well made, has no chromatic aberrations, and has good performances even in low light. • Binocular neckstrap. The following is a review of the Olympus 8 to16 x 40S zoom model binoculars.
