Men who would put their own lives at risk to protect and rescue these downed pilots out of honor because they may have been the enemy but they were aeronautical brothers. I hope these guys write many more books. An enemy who himself hated the Nazis and felt the Nazis where the enemy not the Americans or English.

I normally read action adventure, but what can beat real life. Back and forth we go, tension ratcheting up until they finally meet in war. Not only was he a great man but he served in a airforce filled with great men.

By the late '30s Stigler was a pilot (Ju-52) and instructor for Lufthansa, the premier European airline of the day. The detailed writing brings you right into the lives of two very interesting men from opposite sides in the 1930s & 1940s. This book is a must read. I found a deep new respect for the german pilots of WWII and was very surprised at the conditions theylived through both during and after the war.
