The freezing cold air blows, cooling the freezer periodically. If you value and enjoy making perfect cocktails at home, you will not be disappointed. Once it's all off, put the upper mold face down on the counter, and push down on it. So I take a (sharp) serrated knife and carve them into rough looking roundish cubes that look more interesting than the plain cubes.

This worked from the very first run and I've made probably 50+ ice cubes with this system so far. Fill the lower mold with bottled or filtered water3. Came out flawlessly.

I ended up getting a 1x1 mold but its much worse than this one and the smaller surface area makes them melt so much faster. Lol I didn't get a pic I waited for second batch and kind of rushed it. After 15 min I removed the silicone housing effortlessly. In this case the engineering design of the product forces water to freeze from the top down, instead of from all sides.

After reading several other reviews prior to purchase, especially those negative, so can address some of the concerns. A paper plate or something similar can be set up to block the directed cold air to mitigate the alternating periods of freezing. This one was frozen for 18 hours and was a little wet at the bottom (so not a perfect cube) but CRYSTAL clear.

The result, consistent clear cubes that can be seen in pics attached! I'm on a well with hard water. I poured a full 32 oz glass of room temp tea (74 deg) and set out on the counter with one cube in it. Something about a drink just hits different when you have that breathtaking clear ice in there.

The media could not be loaded. 20 hrs later I took it out of freezer and set it on the counter for exactly 15 min untouched. My second attempt I tried for 19 hours and THEY ARE PERFECT - square and clear.
