The author has created a thought provoking follow up on how childhood experiences shape our adult life and the choices you make and whether it’s truly possible to erase your past and start over with no regrets! Gretel’s description of her relationship with David in 1950’s London is beyond moving. All the Broken Places is a compelling, compulsive page turner.

I thought she was brave, had scruples and acted with tenderness. It is also a story of love and loss, passion and pain, complicity and coping. Boyne’s main character, 90 year old Gretel Fernsby is so complex and her story really takes a deep dive into survivor’s guilt and the complicity of so many during the Holocaust.
