As a bonus: the book looks beautiful with or without the dust cover! The book is extremely well written and having lived in London around this time I immediately recognised both the art and gay scene. I loved the sensibility, all the artistic detail, and how carefully small things echo through the story.

UNDENIABLY! It’s a fine achievement and a great first novel 👏👏👏 Can’t wait for the author’s next book. 𝘠𝘰𝘶 𝘸𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘯’𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘤𝘭𝘢𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘭 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯.

Questionable motives? All the characters are extremely rich and diverse. Set in the 1990s it’s about Don, who’s a Cambridge Don. It is a delightful novel, and keeps its surprises coming right to the end.

MR MARTYN DORE

His is a limited life so leaving Cambridge can be bewildering, especially when he meets Ben, a young artist (YBA? But I really wasn't disappointed! All the reviews are completely justified. A brilliant achievement - this book shines bright.

The voice of a character is so important and in the last I have found that when describing love and sexual encounters the voices were wrong and note how we as gay men see or describe sex. The narrative echoed the essence of art by delivering a conclusion that was nuanced and thought provoking. I was hardly able to put Tiepolo Blue down.

Mr J A Vogel

It has parallels with Hollingshurst, Murdoch and William Boyd. I love that it is shown throughout the book that art is not something we just observe, but rather that we feel.

There are numerous payoffs, some satisfying, some horrific and others very poignant. Overall great read and can’t wait for James next novel He is then thrust upon the London art (and eventually gay) scene and his life and what he though he knew starts to spiral out of control. ‘𝘞𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘱𝘱𝘦𝘥 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘯𝘰𝘸 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘭𝘰𝘰𝘬𝘦𝘥 𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘬𝘺, 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘸𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘯’𝘵 𝘮𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘶𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘪𝘵.
