From the restless streets of London to the wilds of the Lake District, displaying all his trademark humour, playfulness and clever plotting, this landmark collection brings together the very best of Reginald Hill's short stories for the first time, complete with a foreword from Val McDermid. Its double-wall construction prevents condensation and keeps hands dry while holding it. Can James stop the killer before they strike again? Inside is a gruesome surprise, and a promise twelve days, twelve murders. But when he opens an early Christmas present left on his doorstep, he soon realises it is no gift. A detective forced to tell the truth for 24 hours.

I suspected each and one of the villagers being the killer and only the ending revealed the shocking truthI loved so much reading about the victim's thoughts right before they died and I got to like DI James Walker. Enjoy!

It's definitely a must read but can't wait to read the 2nd book in the buddy read group. It was enough to get me hooked and I was thrilled when I got the chance to read the full book. . ?

I like the character James Walker and look forward to reading further books about him. I kept with it, but it was at a slower pace than normal (entirely my own doing)!
