As a disclaimer, I was involved as a "fan" in the rather last minute restoration of the Dustjacket for this edition [which at the time of writing is NOT the one shown on Amazon -- which is a mess, hence my involvement])The package consists of book, dustjacket, slipcase and a paper insert giving some background on the changes to the book which came about after the last impression of the first edition in 1946. ★ ‘All that the unsuspecting Bilbo saw that morning was an old man with a staff. You don't kbow which one you're getting when you order btw, all were ordered on amazon uk.

The dragon's eye has gone and some of the edges are a little rounded off (such as the dragon's ears). This review is for the facsimile First Edition (Amazon aggregates reviews across similar editions -- this review is specific). The blank page that should be at the front is actually at the back. ’Turning over to page 4 for the curious response, which is paired with the first full page illustration with Bilbo standing in front of his green painted front door (3rd image refers).

The previous printing from Rotalito Lombarda (Italy) used the wrong colour cloth which was more blue-green. ooOoo Hardcover edition with matching dust jacket, illustrated by ALAN LEE . The sun was shining, and the grass was very green.

The Hobbit Facsimile First Edition After lengthy delays (the Facsimile Edition of The Hobbit was first advertised for sale in 2011, and re-listed in 2014, before a one-week delay from it's 22nd September 2016 release), my copy of The Hobbit: Facsimile First Edition finally arrived. Not that amazon is at fault here, probably HarperCollins.

It's this that causes First Edition copies of the book to sell for record prices (the current record stands at £137,000 for a copy of the book), which are far out of reach for the majority of Hobbit fans. ◄ This writing refers to the editions rather than an opinion on the tale, which remains one of my favourites of all time.
