I would think there would be less place names, but, in terms of pages of index - they are about the same 218 vs. The 1981 atlas seems to fill all of the space with place names.
YON - Jan C. Hardenbergh
The front matter about climate and minerals, etc uses modern visualization techniques to make the information much easier to grasp. But it is new and improved an a few ways that are obvious - The colors are more subtle. It's sooooo cool! This make the maps easier to read.
period. It's an atlas for those who love cartography. It's beautiful and well worth it. 214.
Rich in detailed information from countries, excellent graphic quality and paper quality is also very good. This has all of the good qualities on the 1981 atlas - the best collection of maps. And they are much less crowded. The 15th edition leaves the sparse areas sparse.
