I highly recommend this product as a sealant for BJD body blushing and face-up as finishing layer! I look forward to many more great years with using Liquitex products. The first thing I used it on was to seal repaint of this toy flintlock and after 3-4? However the finish isn't unnaturally shiny since this wasn't the high gloss variant so it doesn't look cartoony.

The matte works so well and dries quickly. When on display there's noticeable shine so the metallic painted parts look metal and the "wood" looks a bit polished like how real life ones are. I'm glad I found out that I needed this varnish. I apply it using the makeup sponge method.

I found out that we need to coat our finished acrylic canvas paintings with varnish to prevent yellowing and chipping of the paint in years to come. Great option for doll face up, rather than toxic spray sealant. If you want to use a sealant that adds more tooth for colours to grab on, I recommend applying "Liquitex MATT MEDIUM" for your makeup first.

I bought 4oz for $5 and that is a great price since even with extra coats I used it didn't drain the bottle much. They make great varnishes and I can always count on them to work great and not get tacky. Dabbing is the preferred method.

Pleasantly surprised. Matte Medium for base + layersMatte Varnish as final coat to seal everythingGlass Varnish for lips and eye area! I would've hated to see my many paintings slowly deteriorate just because I wasn't well informed.
