About this deal

Tasting Notes:

Hats off to HYKE GinSt. The quintessential Old Fashioned recipe is the easiest cocktail to make. The Bowmore distillery on Islay was built in 1779, at least that's the claim made by their marketeers. Bowmore 12yo has a place in many hearts as Islay's 'medium-peated' malt. Islay Single Malt Scotch WhiskyDistillery Bottling 70cl / 40% Colour: Warm Amber On the palate there is a warming feeling that has delicious subtle dark chocolate flavours. Finish: Remarkably long and complex Reflecting the essence of Bowmore – thrashing waves, windswept landscapes and generations of tradition – our 12 years old is both complex and perfectly balanced. Founded over two centuries ago in 1779, Bowmore is the first recorded distillery on Islay (pronounced ‘eye-la’) and one of the oldest in the whole of Scotland.

Reviews

Mischala

It has honeyed fruit on the nose and initially on the palate, but that's soon kicked into submission by a complex warmth of leathery, smoky deliciousness that belies its age. I've reviewed that as well and provided a side-by-side so you can see the colour difference too if that's of interest. I've long been a fan of Bowmore's 12 year old offering, but having tried the 'new' Legend and some other similarly aged whiskies from other distilleries I've found new love for this classic.

CASH

The finish is as promised, long and lingering, which makes this an ideal sipping drink over those long winter nights. Slàinte! Smooth and its mildly peaty flavour with fruity aroma plays a delicate balance in giving an overall great experience.

Ngangom

When it's on offer under £30 it's tremendous value, at under £25 it's a steal and makes a mockery of the 'new' Bowmore Legend which isn't really a patch on the old one.
