About this deal

For National Curriculum Key Stage 1

Easy-peasy, right? All she needs is a long silky mane, a glowing horn, and the ability to do magic! And it will be set where you definitely won’t find unicorns. Unicorn NOT Wanted is a novel take on unicorn stories, set in the wild west! Her hobbies of drawing and reading graphic novels are woven naturally throughout the story as a whole, adding to the richness of characterization. But all of Peggy's attempts to turn into a unicorn go hilariously wrong. A unicorn arrives in disguise as a horse on the first pages, but when her hat is removed and her horn exposed, chaos ensues.

Reviews

Valory

Great book for parents/caregivers to add inflections to their voice to add "drama" to the story line. The main characters are adorably drawn and very expressive. "Unicorn NOT Wanted" is a funny, silly, delightful story that is appropriate for both the age when a child is read to and for older kids who can read by themselves.

Anastasia

Recommend. Would make a great gift, appropriate for boy or girl.

This is a well presented, colorful hardcover book with nice illustration. Got a few laughs out of her and we have a pug as well so it made the book more enjoyable. We are happy with this book. They are creative, bright and colorful.

Prime Mom

Reading it to someone else might be challenging and confusing, as you would have to change voices or point at the characters so that the audience knows what is going on. Although it isn't great literature by any means, it has a positive message about inclusion and not dulling your shine just to fit in. :)

Nathan

I would say it's fun enough and the presentation and colorfulness of the book makes it worthwhile and fun read for this kids. My 5 year old daughter is reading “I can read” style books and this book is a perfect transition for her.

M. Allen

She loves the pictures and can read the bubble speeches for each character. It's a cute story line.
