I also checked the everymac website for the full specs of my mac just to be sure it could operate the 2nd monitor at full res, which it could. I needed a MiniDP-MiniDP cable to connect my HTC Vive Pro to my gaming laptop. I'm happy to confirm the cable works perfectly with the HTC Vive Pro and my laptop so it's fair to say it can happily run at 2880x1600 @ 90 Hz. The quality is amazing for the cost, and the cable itself seems sturdy and well made.

Pros:- Good value- Decent quality cable with thick cable and gold plated plugs- Works perfectly for a HTC Vive Pro running at 2880x1600 @ 90 Hz- Retail packaging is very good quality and feels quite premium compared to other products I've purchased in the past. Fortunately, it's a well specced monitor and has a Mini Displayport interface, which is the same connector as Thunderbolt 2. This is slightly less than the bandwidth required to drive a 4K @ 60 Hz but still quite demanding due to the higher refresh rate. Even though the seller states Target Display Mode won’t work with this cable, it worked between a mid-2010 iMac and a Lenovo T450s.

It wasn't long before I came across this cable from Cable Matters on Amazon. Cons:- Doesn't seem to be available in a 1m variant which would have been perfect.

It works as expected. The real proof is in the pudding, as they say.

I definitely wasn't disappointed with the cable - a thick but not too inflexible cable, with gold plated contacts and plastic covers to protect the plugs when being shipped or not in use. Shipped quickly but when it arrived it wasn't the right part. The label is right but the cord isn't.

As my 2nd monitor is better than HD at 2560 x 1440, I was going to pull the trigger on the Displayport converter. Resolution up to 2560x1440 on the iMac.

I got this cable to connect a Surface Dock for a SurfacePro 3 to a Dell 4K monitor. It was niggling me that a native connection would be better, and on checking my monitor I found it had a Mini Displayport. .
