It did a good job of cutting the grass and scarifying the lawn on my first attempt. It also folds down to a very compact size for storage. It takes some time.

What’s it like? On unboxing this I was a bit concerned that it was a bit lightweight and the plastic a bit thin. My advice would be only start on that setting until you see the impact. It isn’t small at all, the machine cuts a lot of waste out of the garden and therefore the bag fills quickly.

You can see from the photos attached how much thatch it pulled out from our c. I have to say I was incredibly impressed with the performance of the Bosch Verticutter. I filled 15 collapsable garden bags and two large rubble bags. However, you can see in the photo how the moss was removed and the base looks clean and healthy, ready to be re- seeded.

To make it compact again you have to completely disassemble it and fit the 3D jigsaw of parts back together into its "compact storage" form. I have added some pictures before and after to try and show what I was up against. They’re not as quick release as the Rotak lawnmowers, but I suppose you’re only going to use this once in a blue moon so it’s not a big quibble.

I didn’t even know verticutters were a thing! This gave it a boost and it developed a nice deeper green colour, but it still wasn’t right. Its tines are not as close together as my old scarifier, so the Bosch does not pick up as much moss in a single pass. I never use moss killer as I hate adding poisonous chemicals to an area where birds feed and the dog walks, and I think it's unnecessary when so much is removed with an efficient raker such as this one.

I had fed it because it was looking a bit beige and tired in parts. One week later, after the warm weather, the seed has germinated and the lawn looks green again. The cable at only 10 metres is annoyingly short (which is why the review is 4 stars).

It’s a very easy machine to use, and I’ve only had it on the highest setting. I initially purchased a different scarifier off Amazon for £100. The whole thing collapses down into a pretty compact shape, with the collecting basket being in two parts that fit inside each other and then fit over the top of the main machine. Watch the depth setting, don’t be gung-ho.
