The model down does the job too but I also wanted a built in VPN. I have just moved into a new block of flats on the 4th floor and my phone connects from downstairs, outside of the building.

After suffering poor WIFI performance for far too long, I’ve finally put the Virgin Router in modem mode and added an awesome router that can handle multiple devices and their high bandwidth demands. Finally wireless catches up with power line adapters Amazing bit of kit get full signal in my loft and over 160mb download on wifi when this is on the bottom floorWell worth the money. The TP-LINK interface when you log into the router is very clean and laid out well, you don't need to really look around to find what you need, it's listed clearly in the menu on both mobile and desktop versions of the browser.

Problem solved, with the Superhub 3 running in router mode connected to this router I'm getting 384mbps in my bedroom and can connect to the Wi-Fi in areas where I previously couldn't at all. I'm not sure why this was necessary, but had me scratching my head for a while! After upgrading to the Virgin media VIVID350 package with the superhub 3 I was able to get around 360mbps over wifi. I knew I'd made the right choice upgrading the router when my laptop sent a notification saying my WIFI had got better!

I am really impressed with the router (C5400X MU-MIMO Tri-Band) and my only regret is that I bought it a few days before the price was reduced by £22. The WiFi has also noticably increased, we can now sit in the garden and get a good signal where as with the virgin hub we couldn't it was an endless loop of connecting / disconnecting but the TP-link gives a good range so we can be anywhere in the house or garden without any problems.
